PhD Selection Criteria

Scientific excellence in research projects and in candidates.

All applications were screened for eligibility by an expert:

grades and certificates
letter of motivation
existence and quality of letters of recommendation
experience in the field of infectious diseases

Committee/s consisting of EVIMalaR members looked at the applications.

Based on the grades given by the selection committee/s three times as many students as there were projects were invited for interview.

The assessment included:
Written subject test (general biology, molecular and cell biology, malaria specific questions)
Individual interviews between student and PI
Panel interviews: students present in front of a panel of approximately 4 PIs

Finally all PIs present at the meeting decided which students to accept.
